Root Canals 

A tooth is made up of three main parts: enamel, dentin, and pulp.  The pulp is the center part of the tooth that contains the nerve and blood supply.  When the pulp becomes severely irritated or dies due to trauma or a deep cavity, a root canal is required to preserve the tooth.  A root canal includes removing the pulp of the tooth, cleaning the area where the pulp was and finally placing a filling in the pulp space.  Recent advances in root canal therapy have made the procedure safer, more comfortable and faster than they were in the past.  If you have a tooth that spontaneously hurts, is extremely sensitive to cold and/or hot, hurts when biting or has a visible infection give our office a call to schedule a consult.
